Employers who employ and train apprentices may be eligible for employer funding through government grants to help mitigate the cost of training.
The provincial and federal governments have created incentive grants to help employers take o apprentices to build the apprenticeships and skilled trades in Ontario.
Provincial Employer Funding
Achievement Incentive
This grant program helps employers train apprentices by reducing some costs of training and supporting an apprentice’s progression by giving grant payments to employers when their apprentices reach milestones. The program offers up to $4,000 to eligible employers when apprentices reach significant milestones. Learn More

In addition to provincial financial support, employers may also be eligible for funding from the federal government.
Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit
The Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit (AJCTC) is a non-refundable investment tax credit equal to 10% of the apprentice’s salary. Therefore, an employer that hires an eligible apprentice could qualify to claim the credit. Eligible apprentices are defined as working in a trade in the first two years of their apprenticeship contract. However, the maximum credit an employer can claim is $2,000 per eligible apprentice.
